Ram Parvesh, from Bihar, is a one-and-a-half years old (approx.) boy, who besides being charming has the most captivating smile. He was referred to Child Heart Foundation because of a serious heart problem that required immediate attention. He was suffering from a congenital heart disease called Single Ventricle. It is a condition that a child is born with where one of the two pumping chambers in the heart, is not large or strong enough to work correctly. The cost of the treatment was Rs. 4,00,000 as Angiography and Glenn operation were to be performed.
With an annual income of Rs. 70,000, it was impossible for his parents, especially his father, Chintu to arrange money at this scale. He has his own private shop, and thus, the income is highly erratic and irregular as one can never predict the footfall. They were anyway struggling with their finances, and the new responsibility of ensuring that Ram gets the treatment on time, added enormous pressure on his parents, giving them sleepless nights. Their need was dire as the procedure had to be started at the earliest. With constant delays, Ram’s condition would have only
worsened. In this helpless situation, they came across Child Heart Foundation online and visited
the clinic. This was probably the first time in a long time where they were being hopeful about getting their son the required treatment. The request was made by his parents for financial
assistance and soon, the CHF team got busy with arranging funds for Ram’s treatment.
Concentrix was brought in and with their help, finally the surgery and required treatment could be carried out.
Today, Ram’s parents do not have to live in constant fear of losing their child, as he is absolutely
fine. Soon, he shall be discharged from the hospital, after which he can resume his life like any other child of his age group. The family has gone through some major emotional upheavals but now, luckily things are improving massively for them.
