Ayantika has been diagnosed with VSD. She was just seventeen days old when the parents were informed about the hole in her heart. She also has PH (Pulmonary Hypertension). The doctors had given up all hopes and had even informed her parents that the chances of her survival were slim. This had shaken them to the core, but they didn’t give up.
The problem started when she was born. She had jaundice and was in a hospital for 5,6 days. After she got discharged, she again fell sick and had fever, but this time around, the doctor assumed it was Covid. However, the parents didn’t admit her, as the situation was not safe, even for the parents, considering the Covid cases were increasing exponentially back then.
Some of the early signs that the family noticed were that her heartbeat was fast, and she would breathe heavily. These symptoms were unusual and bothered her parents a lot. They went to another doctor and after a couple of tests, it was diagnosed that she had a heart problem.
The struggle for her parents continued and again after 2 months, she started turning blue. She was immediately taken to a hospital, but her condition didn’t improve despite being admitted there for a while. The family was tense, and their struggle continued to find a good doctor who could guide them.
She had her first surgery in AIIMS and the second one is due. They came across Child Heart Foundation through online research and contacted the team. Dr. Kohli has been guiding and counselling them since then. The child needs the surgery as her condition is critical. The father is unable to make any contribution due to some serious financial constraints. Ayantika is now registered under the Hridaan project, and the CHF team is helping the family financially by raising funds for them. Soon enough CHF was able to raise her required funds and she had her temporary Pacemaker before going for a permanent Pacemaker. Fortunately, Ayantika responded well, and immediately she had her permanent Pacemaker surgery successfully.
A proud moment for the CHF team as our little heart warrior Ayantika is out of danger. The parents visited the center post her surgery for the follow-up and couldn't thank Dr Kohli enough for all the immediate support he provided.'Her situation was critical and we were already mentally and emotionally exhausted as her journey has been very difficult. But we knew our daughter is a warrior. Dr Kohli has a huge role to play in whatever joy and happiness we are experiencing right now looking at our daughter. We shall be indebted to each one of you who prayed and helped my Ayantika' said the elated father!
We wish Ayantika best health and healthy life!
