Saurabh, born in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Noida was only 3 years and 10 months old when he was diagnosed with Patent Ductus Arteriosus. His father, Manoj, works as a daily wage worker with an annual income of approx. 96,000/-. Under the guidance of a senior doctor, Saurabh was referred for consultation and echo. After being examined by the doctor it was found that Saurabh was suffering from PDA for which an intervention named PDA device closure has to be performed. The tentative cost of the procedure was around 1, 33,000/-. Due to financial constraint, the family was not in the position to support Saurabh’s surgery.
The family made several visits to different government hospitals but were not able to get a date of the surgery. The family contacted Child Heart Foundation and he was immediately registered under the CHF HRIDAAN™ Program. After continuous effort the funds required for his treatment was arranged within 15 days of the registration process. After undergoing COVID 19 RTPCR Test, the result of which were negative, Saurabh was admitted on 16th March at Metro Hospital, Faridabad. He sucessfully underwent his procedure on 17th March 2021 and was sucessfully discharged on 18th March 2021. The follow up check- up of Saurabh revealed steady signs of progress.
