At the age of 6 Anantika was detected with congenital heart defect, a blockage in her heart since birth which caused difficulty in breathing or doing any other activity. Anantika could live, but only with the help of a pacemaker for her little heart's poor functioning. The pacemaker would cost her father Rahul, around INR 2,00,000. This was beyond what he could afford.
Her father works as a Hindi teacher in a primary school. And it was difficult for him to collect the money. He started borrowing from every person he knew but could not arrange the required amount. Meanwhile, Anantika developed breathing problems and often fell unconscious. At Child Heart foundation her surgery was sponsored and a pacemaker device was successfully implanted in Apollo hospital, New Delhi Anamika now lives growing as normal as others and enjoying her studies.
