Sumit aged 1 year was diagnosed with a Congenital Heart Defect named Transposition of Great Arteries (TGA) ON 27TH September. His father Rajpal belongs to Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. Rajpal and his wife travelled from Bareilly with their 11-month-old Sumit for final diagnosis with the hope of getting support from a NGO. They visited several hospitals and Foundation but were unable to get any support. Rajpal came across the free OPD services of Child Heart Foundation and Sumit underwent echocardiography test. The program team of Child Heart Foundation supported and enabled the family to get their surgery done at AIIMS. The cost incurred on his surgery was Rs 80,000 and funds were raised through a network of donors and partner organization. After the surgery Sumit came for the follow up check-ups and the parents were counselled about the future follow up process. Today Sumit has completely recovered and after a year of struggle, the family has been able to return to their home town.
