He graduated from the University College of Medical Sciences, New Delhi in 1986. He subsequently finished Pediatric Training from PGIMER (Chandigarh. He completed his Pediatric Residency (USA) from the Monte fiore Medical Centre, New York and trained in Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Miami. He subsequently practiced Pediatric Cardiology in Florida, USA. He has received several awards and accolades namely – Miami Best Research Award (1996), American Heart Association/Genentech Award (1996) and Award of excellence by Jackson Memorial Hospital, Florida. He has performed several interventional procedures including Flow Restrictor Implantation in Pulmonary Artery for the first time in India, performed a Balloon Angioplasty in 1.3 kg child and stent implantation in a 1.8 kg child
